Apollo is the Greek and Roman god of archery, music and dance, truth and prophecy, healing and diseases, the sun and light, poetry, and more. He is the son of Zeus and Leto, and the twin brother of Artemis, goddess of the hunt. Apollo was considered the ideal male form and depicted in art as a beardless, youthful, and athletic man in his prime. I designed Artemis and Apollo to be companion pieces. Artemis, the older twin and goddess of the wilderness, is positioned on some forest rocks, whereas Apollo the younger twin and also the patron of sailors, is on the beach.
