Kumiho

A Kumiho (or Gumiho) is the Korean version of a nine-tailed fox also present in Chinese (Huli jing) and Japanese (Kitsune) folklore. The common elements in all three legends are of a supernatural fox with nine tails who's lived a thousand years and is able to shape-shift into a beautiful woman. I originally wanted to glaze this piece in full color with ancient spirit tattoos (as suggested by an Instagram sculpting colleague), but decided to go with saturation gold for various reasons. My thanks again to the Ceramic Art Studio and Shop.
