Sea Otter Jewelry Dish

The sea otter (Enhydra lutris) is a marine mammal native to the coasts of the northern and eastern North Pacific Ocean. Sea otters have the highest fur density of all animals which protects them against the cold in lieu of blubber. They are highly social creatures and can spend their entire lives without ever leaving the water. My thanks again to the Ceramic Art Studio and Shop.

A sculpting colleague asked if I had ever made a polar bear. I made a polar bear mother with a cub back in 2018, but I decided to do another one based on a concept I've been noodling for some time. My thanks again to the Ceramic Art Studio and Shop.

Korean Maiden with Gayageum

This piece was at the request of one of my epic giveaway contest winners, a 12 year old girl from Kazakhstan. She asked for a jewelry dish with a maiden in a Korean traditional dress (hanbok). I took it a step further and added a gayageum, a traditional Korean stringed instrument. The colors of her dress are based on the national flag of Kazakhstan, where this work was shipped to.
